Born in Slovakia, Silvia moved to New York in 1996 and obtained her nursing degree from Pace University. Silvia then practised as a RN and Advanced Nurse Practitioner (NP) for over a decade. During this time, Silvia was interested in innovation and system improvement and uniquely contributed to many projects and protocols that continue to improve healthcare quality for patients before, during and after their hospital stay.
Silvia continued creating new pathways for cardiac services when she moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2017 and joined the cardiac team in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital (SCUPH) and Buderim Private Hospital (BPH). In 2021, Silvia joined Dr Peter Larsen at Heart HQ where she was involved in the development of and was the inaugural NP for the Heart Murmur Clinic, a first in Australia. This specialised clinic was designed to improve the patient journey for patients with heart murmurs, helping to facilitate diagnosis, investigation and management. Silvia was the first NP accredited at SCUPH (Ramsay) and at Buderim Private Hospital (Uniting Health Care).
Silvia’s passion is to build a better healthcare service for patients on the Sunshine Coast. Outside of cardiology, Silvia’s passions include dance, piano and a powerful hunger for knowledge. She’s always dreamed of making a difference—and through her new role as Director of Eon Heart Clinics, she’s continuing to pursue this dream.
